Rauw Alejandro

Despacito was a track from the year 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It became the top streamed and downloaded song across the globe within six months. The single Despacito, which combines reggaeton and pop, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also increased interest in Latin music. In 2015 there were two mostly songs with Spanish lyrics on the Billboard Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. The popularity of Despacito reached its peak in the year 2017. In 2020 the year 2020, 41 mainly Spanish songs will be included in the Top 100. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix to Despacito (2017) popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton performers including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna with Maluma for Medellin (2019). Some reggaeton artists have criticized the shift to mainstream music in the year 2020. A newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the growth and evolution of reggaeton. Rauw Alejandro incorporated elements of other genres and electronic music.
